How To Measure

1. Width

Measure from outside of trim to outside of trim. If there is no trim, measure the width of the opening. We usually build your door to be 4" wider to allow for proper coverage when the door is closed.

2. Height

Measure from floor to top of the trim. If there is no trim, measure to the top of the opening. We usually build your door 1" larger than your opening for proper coverage.

3. Floor to Ceiling

Measure from floor to ceiling to ensure there is about 7" above the door opening to allow for hardware installation. Standard Sliding barn door hardware requires at least 6.5" of clearance above the opening. We do offer ceiling mount and low clearance options if there is less than 6.5" above the opening.

4. Wall Space

Your Barn door will need somewhere to slide to when open. Measure the wall space (including trim) on the side it will slide open. This should be at least as wide as the barn door's final dimensions.
